2015 Austin Home Sales

ABOR (Austin Board of Realtors) announced  in January 2016 that the median price rose from $242,500 in 2014, to $263,900 in 2015, more than $20,000.  This, they say is the fourth consecutive year that prices have risen continuously.   National news with David Muir, says that homes prices nationally are up 5.8%, and surprisingly, Austin is not the leader.  Home prices are up and inventory is down throughout the nation.
The number of sales are up too.  2015 nearly 30,000 sold in Austin, nearly double of those sold in 2010. Surprisingly, (to me), statistically, the report states that the average home is now on the market for 49 days.  (With this being an average, it clearly takes into the math that among the homes for sale, there are some “real losers” that just aren’t going to sell.)  In my experience I can tell you that of the homes I’ve been showing, the average is probably much closer to three weeks, at the most.
This demand is continuing to put upward pressure on the prices, but it varies very much according
